Pitcairn's principal, Lutz Andersohn, Ph.D., has a proven track record of

He is equally familiar with sustaining engineering and new product development projects. During his career Dr. Andersohn participated in or led the development or launch of the following market leading products:
  • Dr. Andersohn led the development of an intra-operative autorefractor to be used during ocular surgery. He managed the project and developed a significant part of the software.
  • For Clear Image Tecnologies Dr. Andersohn developed vision software for us in the printing industry.
  • At Bausch+Lomb Dr. Andersohn led the development department responsible for ophthalmic surgery equipment. He introduced systematic project management tools and discipline to drive consistent project forecasting and execution and launched the "Stellaris® Vision Enhancement System" for cataract surgery in 2007, followed by a major performance improvement in 2009. He subsequently launched the "Stellaris® PC™ Vision Enhancement System" for retinal surgery in 2010, released on time and on budget. FDA clearance for this complex system was achieved in just over four months.

  • At Nellcor (a business unit of Covidien, formerly Tyco Healthcare) he led the product development department for Nellcor's line of Pulse Oximetry devices. Under his leadership the company launched a new and innovative hand held device. He introduced platform based modular development strategies.

  • As software engineer, software manager, project manager and director at KLA-Tencor he managed several software development and product development projects. He improved the software development process and delivered projects on time and on budget. Products include KLA-Tencor's P-15 Profiler and KLA-Tencor's internal wafer handling system as well as various software improvements on these systems and KLA-Tencor's High Resolution Profilers.

  • As software engineer with TopoMetrix (later ThermoMicroscopes and then Veeco) he developed GUI software, device drivers and firmware for Atomic Force Microscopes which were in use many years. He was the software engineer on the "Micro Thermal Analyzer" product, winner of "Best New Product" at PITTCON '98
Dr. Andersohn received his docorate in physics from the University of Hannover, Hannover, Germany, in 1994, specializing in research of semiconductor surfaces using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy.
